Cork farm

We took a 1 hour bus trip from Evora to a cork farm in Redondo. Loaded into cars and jeeps we went in to the farm area where there were cows, vineyards and cork trees. A local guide showed us how cork is stripped from min 45 year old trees and then only every 10 years. We were hosted in town for a typical cork strippers lunch and then on the bus back to Evora.

Cork comes from bark of the Cork Oak tree

Dolmen rocks - burial sites from the Iberian Celts 6,000 years ago!

After returning we headed back up the hill to the Evora Cathedral to go inside and up on the ramparts with amazing views of the city! Temperatures most days were in the + 25C range, warm and sunny.
